Boyband McFly thrilled thousands of screaming fans as the Trafford Centre kicked off their Christmas celebrations.
The chart-topping stars, including Bolton's Danny Jones, performed on the Orient stage and flicked the switch on the shopping mall's £1m Christmas lights.
Huge traffic queues on the M60 welcomed many fans to the switch on with traffic tailing back as far as Bredbury during rush hour on the anti-clockwise carriageway of the motorway.
McFly were barely audible to begin with because of the deafening screams from their fans.
They wished the audience Merry Christmas before launching into an energetic version of their hit Obviously.
Crowds of girls rushed toward the stage top get closer to the lads who also performed It's All About You and Shine A Light.
In previous years, the event has been held in October – last year Steps performed the switch-on honour on October 28 – but this year bosses decided to wait until November to tie-in with half-term.
